Veterinary Acupuncture Patients
If you've been reading my blog you'll know that I am a certified veterinary acupuncturist and that it's something that I am passionate about. I have lots of gorgeous patients who receive acupuncture and I was lucky enough to have a visit from two of them one after the other on Tuesday.

So, without further ado meet Cindy & Max
- Cindy, the Mini Dachshund is 12 years old and receives acupuncture for arthritis in her elbow and chronic changes in her spine.
- Cindy is very good for her acupuncture treatment. She is a very loving girl. She has been a regular patient of mine over the last 18 months. In fact, I am old friends with her human sister who used to be a vet nurse with me when I was a vet student.
- Max is a gorgeous rescue Samoyed. He has recently become a patient of mine but has instantly become a favourite! He's so gentle and such a sweetheart. He was rescued a few years ago and was already missing his eye. He has certainly landed on his feet in his forever family.
- Max is such a happy boy. He is receiving acupuncture for suspected arthritis in his left hip and some spinal pain. We are planning on radiographing him in the coming weeks to find out what is going on once and for all.
Have you ever considered acupuncture for your pet? Or better yet, has your pet ever received acupuncture?
We’ve been using acupuncture for our guys for a few years now. One thing that scares me is the “calming” needle between the eyes, though. I guess I should get one of those first.
I’m so glad to hear that you’re using acupuncture for you pets. It’s such a great tool to help make pets comfortable and improve their quality of life. I’m wondering if that is GV20 or yin tang they are using? I love the one of the top of the head (GV20). I had patients just get very relaxed and go to sleep during their treatment. Acupuncture also has the same effect on me (without a needle between the eyes, although for my sinuses I’ve had them either side of my nostrils. I knew I was alive that day 🙂 )
Dr Belinda, Thanks for helping pets! I discovered about the acupuncture for cats via our reader’s story. That was something new to me! Not many people know about this and have lots of questions xox Natalie
